Apollo Tyres has secured the position of jersey sponsor for the Indian cricket team, succeeding the online gaming platform Dream11. This change comes after Dream11 exited due to the Indian government's ban on real money gaming platforms.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) faced a temporary void in shirt sponsorship during the ongoing Asia Cup after announcing that companies engaged in real money gaming, cryptocurrency, tobacco, and alcohol were barred from bidding. Following a successful Expression of Interest process, Apollo Tyres has signed a lucrative three-year deal valued at Rs 579 crore, surpassing the previous arrangement with Dream11.
The deal embodies 121 bilateral matches and 21 ICC games, extending Apollo Tyres' already significant presence in India and globally. Announcements regarding the sponsorship transition are expected soon, as confirmed by a senior BCCI official.
