Hamish Kerr Soars to Gold with Record-Breaking Jump

In a stunning display of athletic prowess, Hamish Kerr, the Olympic high jump champion, clinched gold at the world championships in Tokyo. The New Zealander reached an impressive height of 2.36 metres, securing New Zealand's second gold medal at the prestigious event.

Kerr achieved this feat on his first attempt, marking the highest jump recorded globally this year. His victory celebrations commenced when South Korea's Woo Sang-hyeok could not surpass the same height.

Woo, aiming for South Korea's first world championship title, had to settle for silver, repeating his performance from three years ago in Eugene, with a successful jump of 2.34m. Meanwhile, Jan Stefela of the Czech Republic claimed the bronze on a countback against Ukraine's Oleh Doroshchuk.
