Aryna Sabalenka Withdraws from China Open After Injury

Aryna Sabalenka has pulled out of the upcoming China Open due to an injury she sustained during her victorious U.S. Open campaign, according to organizers on Wednesday.

The Belarusian athlete secured her second consecutive U.S. Open win and fourth Grand Slam title earlier this month by defeating Amanda Anisimova. Last year, Sabalenka advanced to the quarter-finals at the prestigious WTA 1000 event held in Beijing.

In her statement, Sabalenka expressed her disappointment over withdrawing from the event but emphasized her commitment to achieving full health for the remainder of the year. Meanwhile, American player Coco Gauff, the event's defending champion, is preparing for her title defense at the China Open, set to take place at the National Tennis Centre in Beijing from September 24 to October 5.
