Indian weightlifter Mirabai Chanu has added another silver medal to her illustrious career, securing a podium finish at the World Championships in the 48kg category.

Chanu, the 2017 world champion and 2022 silver medallist, executed a total lift of 199kg, moving down from the 49kg division in the process. Despite facing challenges in the snatch, she successfully completed all three clean and jerk attempts, lifting weights of 109kg, 112kg, and 115kg with finesse.

While Chanu aimed to breach the 200kg mark, North Korea's Ri Song Gum triumphed with a remarkable 213kg, setting new world records. Thailand's Thanyathon Sukcharoen claimed bronze.
