West Indies Cricket Launches Bold Reforms to Regain Glory

Cricket West Indies (CWI) has announced an ambitious set of reforms to breathe new life into the sport following a series of disheartening performances. This strategic plan comes in the wake of an emergency meeting in August, triggered by a string of disappointing results, notably a historic defeat to Australia.

The meeting witnessed participation from cricket icons like Brian Lara and Sir Clive Lloyd, alongside current captains and team management. The strategy addresses ten pivotal challenges, such as the declining quality of regional tournaments, a problematic franchise system, and inadequate coaching support, among others.

Immediate actions include hiring a specialist batting coach and upgrading the women's team coaching role. Long-term plans focus on a National Cricket Development Framework and a state-of-the-art High-Performance Centre in Antigua. The overarching aim is to enhance financial sustainability, infrastructure, and player pathways for the future of West Indies cricket.
