Unstoppable Pogacar: European Champion with Room to Grow

Slovenian cyclist Tadej Pogacar has sealed a spectacular season by capturing the European title on Sunday, complementing his previously won World Championships crown.

In a competition billed as a showdown with Belgian Remco Evenepoel and Dane Jonas Vingegaard, Pogacar decisively broke away with a stunning 75-km solo attack, claiming victory as Evenepoel took second, and Vingegaard did not complete the race. This triumph follows Pogacar's recent success of securing a consecutive men's road race world title, marking him as the first rider to achieve winning both the Tour de France and the World Championships in the same year, twice in succession.

In a post-race interview, Pogacar expressed his drive for continual growth, emphasizing the importance of experience and challenging himself in diverse races while cherishing these successes. He commended Evenepoel's efforts who kept the competition intense until the finish line. Pogacar is prepared to conclude his season with ambitions for a fifth straight victory at the Giro di Lombardia taking place this month.
