Vince Whaley's Alligator Adventure at Sanderson Farms Championship
Vince Whaley had an unexpected encounter with an alligator during the Sanderson Farms Championship. Despite a lurking gator, he managed to play on and tie for third. Whaley humorously recounted the experience on Instagram, highlighting the recurring presence of alligators at golf events.

American golfer Vince Whaley faced an unusual challenge during the Sanderson Farms Championship as he encountered an alligator while playing on Sunday. The incident occurred when Whaley, after hitting a wayward shot, discovered the reptilian spectator lurking just feet away.
The 30-year-old rolled up his trousers and bravely waded into the water to take his shot, skillfully managing to bring the ball back to dry land and secure a par on the 11th green. Whaley went on to finish the tournament tied for third place with a five-under 67, trailing winner Steven Fisk by five strokes.
In a humorous Instagram post, Whaley joked about the encounter, remarking, "Saved par and both hands... sorry, Chubbs!" Golfers have come to expect alligator sightings during tournaments, with Billy Horschel famously fending one off earlier this year.
