Cricket South Africa (CSA) has unveiled its 15-player squad for the upcoming ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2026, scheduled to be held in England and Wales starting on June 12. The Proteas Women, captained by Laura Wolvaardt, are set to compete in pursuit of their first-ever world title.

The squad welcomes back renowned fast bowler Shabnim Ismail, who last played in the T20 World Cup final in Cape Town in February 2023. Ismail's vast experience, including 113 T20I appearances and a national record of 123 wickets, is a significant addition. Also making a return are Marizanne Kapp and Dane van Niekerk, who recovered from recent health setbacks.

Wicketkeeper-batter Karabo Meso rejoins the team after being sidelined by a wrist injury, partnering with Sinalo Jafta behind the stumps. Emerging talent Kayla Reyneke will make her debut in a senior World Cup following an impressive international season. Additionally, Tazmin Brits, Sune Luus, Annerie Dercksen, Nadine de Klerk, and Chloe Tryon complete the squad.

The formidable bowling attack features seamers Ayabonga Khaka and Tumi Sekhukhune, along with spin specialist Nonkululeko Mlaba. The team will undertake a preparatory camp in Arundel from May 25, which includes three matches against Australia from May 31 to June 4. The Proteas' World Cup campaign kicks off against Australia on June 13 in Manchester.

Having reached the finals of the past three ICC tournaments, South Africa now gears up to face a challenging Group 1 lineup that includes Pakistan, India, the Netherlands, and Bangladesh. Head coach Mandla Mashimbyi expressed excitement, emphasizing the team's preparations and upcoming fixtures, including the opening match against Australia.
