In a surprising decision, Australia has excluded experienced pacer Darcie Brown from its squad for the upcoming ICC Women's T20 World Cup set to take place in England. Brown has been a key player, taking 34 wickets in 41 T20Is, but selectors have opted for the less experienced Lucy Hamilton, who has only played one T20I and four international matches thus far.

Hamilton's selection is the most noteworthy change in the lineup, with left-arm spinner Sophie Molineux named captain despite recent injury worries. Hamilton previously led the national team in the ICC U19 Women's T20 World Cup and debuted in all formats during tours in the West Indies and India.

The squad combines seasoned stars like Ellyse Perry, Beth Mooney, Ash Gardner, Tahlia McGrath, and Megan Schutt with promising talent such as Phoebe Litchfield and newcomer Georgia Voll. Voll, a crucial player for Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the Women's Premier League, boasts an impressive strike rate and has emerged as a key addition to the team.

Ellyse Perry is on the brink of making history by potentially playing her 50th Women's T20 World Cup match, having competed in every edition since 2009. Nicola Carey returns, securing her spot after a successful stint with the Mumbai Indians in the Women's Premier League.

Travelling reserve all-rounder Tahlia Wilson boosts the lineup as Australia gears up for competitive matchups in Group 1 against teams like South Africa and India. The team faces South Africa in their first match on June 13 at Old Trafford, Manchester.
