In a remarkable display of cricket, Bangladesh outclassed Pakistan with a 104-run victory in the first Test at Mirpur, marking a significant achievement in the current ICC World Test Championship cycle.
Skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto led from the front, earning the Player of the Match title after hitting his ninth Test century, followed by a crucial knock of 87 runs in the second innings. His performance resulted in a substantial climb up the ICC Test batting rankings, reaching a career-high 23rd position.
Bangladesh's Mushfiqur Rahim and Mominul Haque also made strides in the rankings, alongside bowling successes from Taijul Islam, Taskin Ahmed, and Nahid Rana. Pakistan's Mohammad Abbas, meanwhile, made a strong return to the rankings following his performance in the Mirpur Test.
