In a bid to evaluate India's readiness for the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, conducted a high-level review meeting. The assembly aimed at streamlining coordination among stakeholders and enhancing the support framework for Indian athletes set to compete at the event, stated the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.

The meeting was attended by top officials from the Ministry, representatives of the Indian Olympic Association (IOA), including the Chef de Mission for CWG 2026, and members from the Sports Authority of India (SAI). Discussions revolved around operational strategies, athlete preparations, and coordination mechanisms necessary for the event. Dr. Mandaviya scrutinized areas like athlete training, logistics, and welfare, emphasizing the government's dedication to fully supporting athletes to achieve top performance levels.

A significant part of the dialogue covered preparations for the CWG 2026 closing ceremony, where India will officially receive the baton to host the Commonwealth Games 2030 in Amdavad, Gujarat. Harsh Sanghavi, Deputy Chief Minister of Gujarat, and other senior Gujarat Government representatives were involved in the discussions. The review also covered inter-ministerial coordination efforts led by the Secretary (Sports) to ensure seamless logistical and operational preparations for the Indian contingent.
