Avani Prashanth Shines as Lone Indian at Amundi German Masters
Avani Prashanth made a spirited comeback to make the cut at the Amundi German Masters. Her impressive 4-under 69 in the second round secured her position, while Esther Henseleit leads in Hamburg. Other Indian players failed to progress, with Pranavi Urs and Vani Kapoor missing out.
In a standout performance, Indian golfer Avani Prashanth emerged as the sole Indian to advance beyond the cut at the Amundi German Masters in Hamburg. Prashanth's impressive second-round score of 4-under 69 placed her securely within the cut line, which was set at 2-over par, landing her tied for 47th place.
Prashanth showcased her resolve on just her second season on the Ladies European Tour, overcoming a challenging start. Her resurgence began early in the second round, when she eagled the par-5 fourth hole, a significant turnaround from the double bogey she scored there on the opening day. Starting on the front nine, she gained momentum and added birdies on the 11th and 13th holes, despite a minor setback with a bogey on the 14th hole, and capped her round with another birdie on the 17th.
The young golfer's strong showing continues her promising form following a tied-fifth finish at the Hero Women's Indian Open. Her compatriots, Pranavi Urs and Vani Kapoor, did not make the cut, with Urs ending tied for 72nd at 4-over and Kapoor withdrawing post first round. Leading the tournament, Germany's Esther Henseleit thrilled local fans by securing the top spot at 9-under par, with a 1-shot lead going into the weekend.
