Grandmaster Iniyan Panneerselvam has emerged as a standout talent, winning both the Rapid and Blitz titles at the prestigious Commonwealth Chess Championship held in Sri Lanka. The chess prodigy from Tamil Nadu showcased his formidable capabilities, scoring 6.5 points from seven rounds per format.

In a strong field, Grandmaster Srihari secured the silver in the Rapid event, with GM Mitrabha taking bronze. The Blitz format saw Grandmaster Rohith Krishna claim the second spot, followed by Srihari with another medal finish, this time in bronze.

The 11-day tournament, conducted in multiple formats, welcomed 96 players in the Open section, bringing together delegates from nations such as India, Sri Lanka, and Australia, establishing a formidable international competition.
