Coco Gauff's Eventful Start to French Open After Minor Car Incident
Coco Gauff encountered a minor car mishap on the way to her French Open match but emerged unscathed. She shared her experience humorously, proceeding to win against Taylor Townsend. Despite wardrobe issues, she began her title defense on a positive note.
Coco Gauff experienced an unexpected start to her French Open campaign when she was involved in a minor car accident en route to her opening match. Though the collision was minor, causing a spill of her juice, Gauff appeared unharmed and continued her day with a smile.
"We ended up taking a taxi after our car hit a pole," she humorously shared with TNT Sports, nonchalant after defeating Taylor Townsend 6-4, 6-0. The incident was followed by another mishap as Gauff wrestled with a wardrobe malfunction ahead of her match on Court Philippe-Chatrier.
Reflecting on the unexpected events, Gauff expressed relief at emerging without injury, saying, "Whenever these things happen, they shift your focus away from the competition. I'm just glad to have made it through the day intact." Last year, she triumphed over Aryna Sabalenka in Paris to claim the title.
