Wrestling Federation Challenges Court Ruling on Vinesh Phogat's Trial Participation

The Wrestling Federation of India has approached the Supreme Court, questioning the Delhi High Court's decision to allow Vinesh Phogat to participate in the Asian Games selection trials. The federation contends that the court's ruling disregards its selection framework.

The Supreme Court bench of Justices P S Narasimha and Alok Aradhe will deliberate the matter this Friday. Previously, the High Court concluded that the exemption of Phogat, recently returning from maternity leave, from the trials was unjust. The upcoming trials, scheduled for the end of May, will be documented on video and monitored by representatives from the Sports Authority of India and the Indian Olympic Association.
