Yogasana is striving to become a medal sport by the 2036 Olympics, potentially hosted by India in Ahmedabad. Vice President of World Yogasana Udit Sheth is confident in their strategy, aiming to feature the ancient Indian practice as a demonstration sport in upcoming Olympic events, including the 2032 Games.
The sport is gaining international traction, debuting as a demonstration event in the Asian Games, and is one of the Indian-proposed sports for the 2030 Commonwealth Games. Already practiced extensively in India, with more than 300,000 registered athletes, Yogasana is spreading to regions like West Asia, Europe, and even North America, despite cultural differences. Adherence to anti-doping regulations is part of the strategic expansion plan, ensuring compliance with WADA guidelines for a fair competitive environment.
