Budding all-rounder Harsh Dubey aspires to establish his distinct presence in Indian cricket, beyond being considered a successor to any senior player. The 23-year-old, renowned for his prowess as a left-arm spinner and left-handed batter, has earned his inaugural call-up for the upcoming single Test and three ODIs against Afghanistan.
Selection panel chief Ajit Agarkar noted Dubey's promising potential, stressing that Ravindra Jadeja has been rested and not replaced. Dubey expressed his determination to focus on personal growth and delivering his best performance, saying, "I am not looking to replace anyone. I worked hard for this opportunity."
With 198 wickets across formats, Dubey strives not to burden himself with pressure, aiming to treat international matches like any other game. Besides his bowling talent, Dubey has scored over 1000 runs in 27 red ball fixtures, solidifying his all-rounder role with nine half-centuries.
This IPL season has been crucial for honing Dubey's skills, where he captured eight wickets in eight matches. He attributes much of his success to the unwavering support of his parents, encouraging aspiring players to prioritize team spirit and dedication to help their team win.
