The Deep Tech Summit held in Morocco spotlighted the urgent need for ethical governance and equitable access to maximize AI's transformative potential. Experts from the University Mohammed VI Polytechnic and international institutions gathered to tackle these pivotal issues.
UM6P President Hicham El Habti underscored the importance of ethical governance, remarking that AI is currently rewriting industry playbooks and reshaping value chains. Meanwhile, Jalal Charaf, Chief Digital Officer at UM6P, compared AI to revolutionary technologies like fire or electricity, acknowledging the challenges in determining how best to utilize it.
Participants also highlighted the importance of embedding AI understanding within educational systems, as stressed by Stavaros N Yiannouka, CEO of WISE. The summit included over 60 sessions on topics ranging from cybersecurity to the green economy, and featured reverse pitches where investors presented partnership opportunities to startups.
