Google India is taking significant steps to combat misinformation, notably with advanced AI technology. Speaking on tackling deepfakes, Google's Country Manager and Vice President, Preeti Lobana, emphasized the importance of this mission, which aligns with the tech giant's goal of universal and accessible information.
One of the key innovations is SynthID, a tool that enables users to verify AI-generated content through invisible watermarks. This technology ensures that content authenticity and trust remain intact, even when content is shared or edited, she added.
Moreover, Google is gearing up to launch the Google Safety Engineering Centre in India and the Google Safety Charter to address online frauds and cybersecurity. Lobana stated that while AI presents opportunities, it's crucial to responsibly build and manage such innovations collaboratively with other stakeholders.
