Luxury Leak: Louis Vuitton's Data Breach Scandal
Hong Kong's privacy watchdog is investigating a data leak affecting 419,000 Louis Vuitton customers. The breach exposed personal details such as names and shopping history but not payment information. The company is collaborating with regulators and affected clients after identifying unauthorized access to its data systems.

Hong Kong's privacy watchdog announced on Monday it is probing a significant data leak involving approximately 419,000 Louis Vuitton customers. The incident sees the luxury brand struggling with ongoing data breaches across various countries.
Compromised information includes personal identifiers like names, passport numbers, addresses, email addresses, phone numbers, shopping history, and product preferences. However, Louis Vuitton assured that no payment data was compromised, according to a statement from LVMH's primary luxury brand.
The French head office noted suspicious activity on June 13, discovering the impact on Hong Kong customers by July 2, and reporting the issue on July 17. Additionally, similar breaches have affected operations in South Korea and Britain this month, prompting further scrutiny from privacy regulators.
