Romania recovered drone fragments in the southeastern city of Galati following a Russian attack on Ukraine. Damage was reported to an electricity pole and a household annex, according to Romania's defense ministry.

Though no casualties were reported, the incident marks the first instance of property damage on Romanian soil due to falling drone debris. NATO member Romania shares a 650-km land border with Ukraine and has seen increasing Russian drone incursions breaching its airspace amid ongoing attacks on Ukrainian ports across the Danube River.

In response, Romania's defense ministry condemned Russia's actions, labeling them a challenge to regional security and NATO's collective safety. NATO forces, including two British Eurofighter Typhoon jets, have been on high alert. Romania plans to integrate a U.S.-made, AI-powered counter-drone system into its national defense in the coming days.
