The European Commission has received a generous offer from OpenAI, a leading U.S. artificial intelligence company, to provide open access to its cybersecurity tools. This move is aimed at strengthening shared security and supporting public safety in the EU.

Anthropic, another AI-focused company, has engaged in ongoing discussions with the Commission; however, they have not yet proposed a similar access offer to their AI models, according to Commission spokesperson Thomas Regnier. Despite productive meetings, no discussions about access have been confirmed.

George Osborne, the leader of OpenAI's 'OpenAI for Countries' initiative, has communicated with the Commission and EU member states about their commitment to European cybersecurity through the OpenAI EU Cyber Action Plan. This initiative follows the recent categorization of ChatGPT as a large online search engine under the Digital Services Act.
