The auction, organised by the Ministry of Culture, Government of India through the National Gallery of Modern Art (NGMA), New Delhi, is live online at www.pmmementos.gov.in from September 17 to October 2, 2025. Citizens and collectors from across the world can bid for these rare artifacts while contributing to a national cause.
Maharashtra’s Highlights in the Auction
Among the many prized objects from Maharashtra, three standout contributions embody the state’s unique blend of spirituality, devotion, and tribal artistry:
-
Handcrafted Goddess Koradi Mata Figurine: A finely carved two-tone wooden sculpture of Koradi Mata, a revered deity worshipped near Nagpur. This piece exemplifies the craftsmanship of local artisans and reflects the devotional practices embedded in Maharashtra’s spiritual fabric.
-
Tarpa Instrument with Warli Art: Crafted from bamboo, this traditional Tarpa wind instrument is decorated with Warli motifs—depictions of musicians, dancers, and community gatherings. The Tarpa represents the tribal vibrancy of Maharashtra, where music, dance, and storytelling are integral to cultural life.
-
Silver Ram Darbar from Shree Kalaram Mandir, Nashik: An exquisite silver representation of Lord Ram, Goddess Sita, Lakshman, and Hanuman, housed under an ornate Torana and enclosed in a protective fiberglass case. This gift from the historic Kalaram Temple in Nashik combines religious devotion with artistic excellence.
These pieces highlight Maharashtra’s role as a custodian of folk traditions, devotional art, and heritage crafts that continue to inspire and resonate across India.
About the PM Mementos e-Auction
Launched in 2019, the Prime Minister’s Mementos e-Auction has become a much-anticipated annual event. It offers citizens and art enthusiasts a chance to own memorabilia gifted to the Prime Minister by individuals, institutions, and dignitaries from across the globe.
Beyond cultural value, the auction serves a noble purpose: all proceeds are dedicated to the Namami Gange Project, the flagship mission for rejuvenating and conserving the river Ganga. Over the past editions, the auction has successfully raised over ₹50 crore for this ecological initiative, blending heritage preservation with environmental stewardship.
Maharashtra’s Cultural Legacy on the Global Stage
By showcasing its artistic treasures in the PM Mementos e-Auction, Maharashtra not only reaffirms its cultural identity but also shares its traditions with a wider audience. From tribal Warli expressions to classical temple artistry, the state’s contributions highlight its rich diversity and inclusive heritage.
