Airspace Tensions Impact Flight Operations Amid India-Pakistan Escalation

Security measures at airports have been bolstered amid rising India-Pakistan tensions, impacting some flight operations due to airspace restrictions, officials disclosed on Friday. The Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) has mandated additional secondary checks for all flights and restricted visitor access to terminal buildings to enhance security.

Operations at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport, managed by Delhi International Airport Ltd (DIAL), remain normal despite some potential schedule disruptions due to changing airspace conditions. Airlines urged passengers to arrive three hours prior to domestic flights owing to stringent security checks.

In retaliation to last month's Pahalgam terror attack, the Indian armed forces conducted 'Operation Sindoor', targeting terror sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. Consequently, 27 airports are closed, and over 90 flight operations at Delhi airport were canceled. Ajay Singh of SpiceJet lauded the armed forces for their brave efforts during the operation.
