The Airport Authority of India (AAI) has announced the immediate lifting of temporary closures of 32 airports in northern and western India, which were implemented amid escalating tensions between India and Pakistan.
The initial closure was scheduled to remain effective until 05:29 hrs on May 15, according to a press release from the AAI, but has now been lifted, enabling the resumption of normal civil aircraft operations. Passengers are advised to verify flight statuses with airlines and stay updated via their websites.
This decision follows reports from the Mohali Deputy Commissioner confirming that Chandigarh Airport is open for regular operations. The closures were initially prompted by 'Operation Sindoor,' targeting terror camps in Pakistan and leading to heightened cross-border tensions.
