India is set to export 150 advanced locomotives to the Republic of Guinea, each featuring world-class amenities such as air-conditioned cabins, refrigerators, and microwave ovens. The Railway Ministry will oversee the delivery of these cutting-edge machines over the next three years.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to flag off the first locomotive this Friday. Webtec, a global locomotive manufacturing firm, is manufacturing these engines in collaboration with Indian Railways at its Marhowra Rail Factory in Bihar. The contract is in addition to Webtec's ongoing agreement with the Indian government to produce 1,000 freight locomotives.

The export order aligns with Guinea's largest iron ore mining project, requiring enhanced freight capabilities. The deal not only bolsters the Marhowra factory as a global locomotive hub but also strengthens employment and technological capabilities in India. It is seen as a significant step in deepening India-Africa economic cooperation.
