In the early hours of Saturday, a landslide struck the Sakleshpur–Subrahmanya Road section in Karnataka, causing significant disruptions to train services. The incident occurred between the Edakumari and Shiribagilu stations in Dakshina Kannada district, where boulders slipped from a hill and landed on the tracks used by cargo trains.
The obstruction led to delays in the schedules of multiple trains, including the 16511 KSR Bengaluru–Kannur Express, which was delayed at Kadagaravalli, and the 16585 SMVT Bengaluru–Murdeshwar Express among others. To ease passenger discomfort, railway authorities arranged refreshments and issued guidelines on tracking train updates through mobile applications.
According to Manjunath Kanamadi, the Chief Public Relations Officer of South Western Railway, passengers are advised to stay informed via the NTES and 'Where is My Train' apps, and they can use Twitter or call helpline number 139 for emergencies.
