Kolkata Metro Railway has suspended services between Kavi Subhas (New Garia) and Dakshineswar stations following the discovery of cracks in some platform columns. The decision was made to ensure passenger safety, while an assessment and repair of the damage are underway.
The disruption, which occurred on Monday, saw trains operating only up to Shahid Khudiram station on the Blue Line until further notice. This line traditionally connects the southern end at Kavi Subhash with the northern terminus at Dakshineswar.
According to a Metro Railway spokesperson, the cracks may have stemmed from the uneven settlement of platforms caused by recent heavy rainfall. Temporary closures are in effect, with services reduced to mitigate risks, while maintenance efforts aim to restore full operations as soon as possible.
