The Mizoram unit of the BJP has petitioned the central government to hasten repair efforts on the severely damaged NH-306 and NH-6. These highways serve as critical links between Mizoram and the rest of India through Silchar, Assam.
State BJP president K Beichhua personally approached Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari to convey the grave conditions affecting Mizoram's primary transport routes. Beichhua also presented a proposal to create a new highway connecting Tripura, Mamit, Lunglei, and Zochachhuah.
While Gadkari assured his attention to the matter, repair work on NH-6's Sairang-Kawnpui segment continues under the supervision of NHIDCL and the state PWD. Meanwhile, Mizoram is facing shortages of fuel and essentials due to ongoing restrictions on vehicular movement.
