Smoke caused a panic among passengers in a Metro Railway coach bound for Sahid Khudiram in Kolkata on Thursday. The unsettling incident took place at Chandi Chowk station, Metro officials reported.
The smoke was detected at approximately 8:15 am as the train halted at the station, according to a Metro Railway spokesperson. Passengers safely disembarked, and the train was moved to a carshed for investigation into the smoke's origin.
Fortunately, no casualties or injuries resulted from the incident. Operations on the Blue Line from Dakshineshwar to Sahid Khudiram continued without disruption, the spokesperson confirmed.
