Army Officer Allegedly Assaults Airline Staff Over Baggage Dispute at Srinagar Airport

A senior army officer has been accused of assaulting four SpiceJet employees at Srinagar International Airport. The alleged incident occurred after a dispute over excess baggage fees, reportedly causing serious injuries to one airline employee. A legal case has been registered against Lieutenant Colonel R K Singh under Section 115 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

Video footage circulating on social media shows the army officer attacking the staff with an iron stand. SpiceJet confirmed one worker sustained spinal injuries while another suffered serious jaw injuries. The airline intends to place the officer on a no-fly list and has notified the civil aviation ministry of the incident.

Army officials have confirmed their cooperation with the investigation and emphasized their commitment to maintaining high standards of discipline. Meanwhile, the airline strongly condemned the attack and vowed to follow the matter through legal and regulatory channels.
