The India Cellular and Electronics Association (ICEA) is advocating for a concentrated focus on industrial and infrastructure electronics, labeling it as vital to reaching India's ambitious goal of USD 500 billion in electronics manufacturing by 2030-31. Industrial automation technologies are praised for boosting productivity, quality, and sustainability, thereby being integral to competitive global production systems.

ICEA Chairman Pankaj Mohindroo has declared that industrial electronics should be seen as a "national strategic priority" since it serves as the core of advanced manufacturing systems. "India must lead in industrial automation to claim true manufacturing leadership," Mohindroo stated. These technologies, including embedded systems, robotics, automation software, and AI, are foundations of Industry 4.0 and future manufacturing.

Per ICEA, the sector holds great promise for creating high-skilled jobs and driving technological growth. Mohindroo advocates for increased R&D investment, incentivization, and a strong talent pool to elevate India from a consumer to a global design and manufacturing hub in industrial electronics.

To advance this agenda, ICEA has established a Steering Committee on Industrial Electronics and Infrastructure. This committee involves leaders from companies like Delta Electronics, Infineon Technologies, and others. Its mission includes devising a policy roadmap and conducting a thorough market analysis to tackle issues related to technological accessibility, regulation, and ecosystem development.

Manish Walia, VP at Delta Electronics, stated, "Industrial electronics is the technological backbone powering all verticals, from smart factories to automated transport networks," while Amber Group's Jasbir Singh noted, "This initiative will enhance India's industrial automation ecosystem, aligning with the Atmanirbhar Bharat vision."

ICEA reiterated its commitment to industry-driven innovations that boost global competitiveness and strengthen India's position in the global electronics value chain. (ANI)
