The Dharavi Redevelopment Project's Slum Rehabilitation Authority has announced a call for commercial and industrial units in Mumbai's Dharavi to submit expressions of interest if they wish to secure additional space beyond the 225 sq ft provided free under the rehabilitation scheme. These units must submit their consent forms by August 24 to avail of this opportunity.
Interested parties can access the online submission form on the project's website or submit their interest in person at the Public Relations Office in Mahim. Under the initiative, businesses are entitled either to an equivalent of their existing area or up to 20.90 sqm (225 sqft), with extra space available for purchase at construction costs as per government norms.
Eligible units, particularly those existing since January 1, 2000, and holding appropriate licensing, may apply for additional space based on tender conditions. This effort is part of a broader governmental strategy to support local businesses while accommodating various stakeholders involved in the redevelopment process, ensuring the preservation of Dharavi's unique commercial ecosystem.
