The push for improving Maharashtra's rail infrastructure saw a significant financial boost under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, with Rs 21,000 crore allocated over a decade for Marathwada, marking a vast increase from the Rs 450 crore during the previous UPA era. This was emphasized by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis during the inauguration of the Beed-Ahilyanagar railway section.
Fadnavis critiqued the previous Maharashtra Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government for stalling progress by not releasing essential funds for the projects. He credited the current BJP-led government, particularly since 2022, for revitalizing stalled initiatives, with the Beed-Ahilyanagar route expected to be electrified shortly.
Deputy CM Ajit Pawar detailed plans to extend the railway line further, highlighting the long-standing challenges the project faced since its inception in 1996. Further appeals pointed toward broader societal issues, advocating for non-divisive politics and societal welfare improvements.
