A Chinese commerce ministry spokesperson has urged the European Union not to label Chinese cars merely as affordable alternatives, amid rising competition from Chinese automakers in the bloc. The spokesperson, He Yadong, emphasized that EU automakers have the capacity to adapt to market pressures.

He further stated that protectionist measures would not effectively deter robust market forces. In an encouraging gesture, China expressed its openness to welcoming EU products, especially through cooperation in the electric vehicle sector.

This development highlights the intricate dynamics in the automotive industry, where both regions seek to balance competition with cross-border collaboration, particularly in the rapidly growing electric vehicle market.
