GAIL (India) Limited and Tata Steel have signed a significant Gas Sales Agreement, marking the first onboarding of an industrial customer across GAIL's City Gas Distribution (CGD) networks. This agreement, a milestone in enhancing industrial sustainability in Jharkhand, involves supplying natural gas to Tata Steel's Combi-Mill plant in Jamshedpur.
The agreement outlines an initial supply of 31,000 standard cubic meters per day (SCMD) of natural gas, with plans to increase to 43,000 SCMD, providing a cleaner energy solution for large-scale industrial operations. The partnership highlights GAIL's commitment to supporting India's industrial sector with efficient energy alternatives.
The growth in India's energy infrastructure has been substantial, with Piped Natural Gas (PNG) connections and Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) stations seeing significant increases. The National Policy on Biofuels, aiming for 20% ethanol blending by 2025-26, further underscores India's focus on cleaner fuels and sustainable development.
