The Centre for Chronic Disease Control (CCDC) celebrated its 25th anniversary with a significant two-day scientific symposium on September 18-19, 2025, at the Manekshaw Centre, New Delhi. Bringing together over 400 leading public health experts and policymakers from across the globe, the event aimed at advancing chronic disease prevention and care.
The symposium highlighted CCDC's pivotal role in shaping India's response to major Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) such as diabetes, cancer, and cardiovascular disease. The event featured a rich array of discussions, from evidence-based research translation into policy to cutting-edge health innovations. In his opening address, Prof. D Prabhakaran, CCDC's Executive Director, underscored the institution's mission to bridge clinical care and public health research, noting its remarkable growth into a collaborative endeavor changing approaches to chronic diseases in India and LMICs.
The event, attended by notable health figures like Prof. K Srinath Reddy, Dr. Rajiv Bahl, and others, delved into pressing subjects such as digital health, food systems, and cancer research. A plenary talk by Dr. Rajiv Bahl emphasized the significance of evidence-informed health systems in India, highlighting ongoing efforts to bridge the gap between innovative ideas and practical implementation.
