Tragedy struck Chhattisgarh's Sakti district when a lift collapsed at a power plant, leading to the death of four workers and injuring six others. The incident occurred at RKM Powergen Pvt Ltd's facility in the Ucchpinda village area late Tuesday evening.
According to Superintendent of Police Ankita Sharma, ten workers were descending the lift after their shift when it suddenly fell. Despite the capacity being 2,000 kilograms and a recent maintenance check on September 29, the lift crashed unexpectedly.
The injured workers were immediately transported to Jindal Fortis Hospital in neighboring Raigarh, where four succumbed to their injuries. An investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the structural failure.
