In West Bengal, the Joint Council of Bus Syndicates has raised concerns about discrimination in disbursement of advance payments for private buses deployed for election duty.
Secretary Tapan Banerjee highlighted that while certain districts have begun receiving payments, others, such as Kolkata and Nadia, remain unpaid, exacerbating financial pressure on bus owners.
Banerjee urged the Election Commission to address the disparity, as operators need the funds to manage wages and liabilities, with over 90% of buses requisitioned for the election.
