A tragic accident claimed the lives of a couple riding a motorcycle in Madhya Pradesh's Seoni district after a rice-laden truck overturned onto them Friday evening. The incident occurred around 5 pm near Jevnara village on the Seoni-Balaghat road, police reported.
The victims, identified as Deep Singh Chauhan and his wife Durga Bai, were returning home from a wedding. The truck reportedly lost control due to road potholes, leading to the fatal accident on the bridge over the Hirri river.
Local residents blame the poor condition of the state highway, citing numerous past accidents. Protests had previously called for road repairs, but despite approval for four-laning, work has not started. A case against the truck driver has been registered, and an investigation is ongoing.
