Walmart Inc., the US-based retail giant, has surged past the USD 40 billion mark in goods sourced from India, according to Walmart President and CEO John Furner. This marks a strategic move in global commerce with India emerging as a key player.
The company announced plans to source USD 10 billion worth of goods annually from India by 2027. Under the Vriddhi initiative, it's strengthening MSMEs by enhancing compliance, quality standards, and manufacturing capacity, paving the way for more Indian export-ready businesses.
Furner, visiting India for the first time, emphasized the importance of building local partnerships. The company's Growth Summit in New Delhi highlights the role of Indian enterprises in global supply chains and seeks to expand support to 170,000 MSMEs by 2028.
