Odisha's railway infrastructure is set for a significant boost with the introduction of a new express train connecting the pilgrim town of Puri to Koraput. Announced by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, this service aims to run three times a week following its approval by the Railway Ministry.
The Puri-Koraput tri-weekly express is expected to bolster regional connectivity across coastal, western, and southern Odisha. Majhi expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw for their support, highlighting the train's potential to enhance travel, tourism, and economic growth.
According to East Coast Railways, the train will operate via several key locations, including Bhubaneswar and Sambalpur, fulfilling the long-standing demands of underserved regions. This new rail service is anticipated to improve access to pivotal educational, medical, and administrative centers within the state.
