PMK leader and former union minister, Anbumani Ramadoss, has issued a strong call for oil companies to retract the recent fuel price hikes. In a statement, Ramadoss criticized the Rs 3 per litre increase in petrol and diesel prices, attributing it to the rise in international crude oil prices.
The immediate effects are visible, with petrol prices in Chennai reaching Rs 103.90 per litre, and diesel at Rs 95.47 per litre. Ramadoss emphasized that this surge imposes severe challenges on the daily lives of citizens and stressed its avoidable nature.
Highlighting the ripple effect, he noted that the increase in fuel costs is expected to boost prices of essentials like vegetables and food items. This, he warned, will heavily strain poor and middle-income households. He urged for an immediate reversal of the price hikes.
