Droupadi Murmu inaugurated a women-exclusive bus service in Gangtok, setting a milestone in public transport aimed at empowering female commuters. Launched in Ridge Park, the 'Pink City Runner - Aama Didi Bahini Bus Sewa' is a state initiative operated entirely by women, endorsing a secure travel environment.
This service will connect Ranipool and the Gangtok Secretariat at a modest fare of Rs 25. The buses are well-equipped with air-conditioning, CCTV, and mobile charging facilities, enhancing commuter experience. The initiative aligns with state goals to advance women's safety and participation in various sectors. Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang highlighted the program's focus on gender equality and public transport enhancement.
