In response to persistent geopolitical tensions in West Asia, Air India announced on Thursday its decision to extend the suspension of flights on the Tel Aviv-Delhi route until the end of July. The airline had initially planned to resume operations at the end of June.
The senior executive overseeing the airline's operations in Israel stated that the decision for this schedule change was communicated on Wednesday evening. The ongoing turbulence in the region, which began in February, has led to increased fuel costs and airspace restrictions, significantly affecting airline operations.
While a ceasefire between the US and Iran has held sporadically, the uncertainty continues to impact air travel significantly. Indian carriers, alongside several international airlines, have paused their Tel Aviv services, exacerbating travel challenges for the Indian diaspora in Israel.
With over 40,000 Indians residing in Israel, many face disrupted travel plans and higher expenses due to limited flight availability, creating concerns for those needing to travel for personal or professional reasons.
