Assam Semiconductor Facility Set to Launch Production This Year
Assam's semiconductor plant at Jagiroad is scheduled to commence production within this fiscal year, with a significant investment aiming to boost India's semiconductor ecosystem. This facility will generate thousands of jobs and cater to multiple sectors, enhancing regional and national economic growth.

The semiconductor manufacturing plant located in Jagiroad, Assam, is on track to begin production before the end of this financial year, according to Electronics and IT minister, Ashwini Vaishnaw. He confirmed this plan following discussions with Assam's Chief Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma.
The facility, overseen by Tata Semiconductor Assembly and Test Pvt Ltd, is positioned to become a key manufacturing hub amid India's quest to build a robust semiconductor ecosystem. With a substantial investment of Rs 27,000 crore, the plant aims to produce up to 48 million semiconductor chips daily, using advanced technologies. This initiative also expects to create a significant number of jobs, boosting both local and broader economic landscapes.
Moreover, the plant's production will support crucial industries such as automotive and telecommunications by providing parts both for domestic use and export, reinforcing India's presence in the global semiconductor market.
