AI and Deepfake Technology Challenge Journalism’s Credibility, Says Scindia

At an event celebrating 200 years of Hindi journalism, he stressed the importance of preserving human conscience in reporting, amidst growing misinformation and manipulation of media content.

Speaking at an event celebrating the bicentennial of Hindi journalism, union minister Jyotiraditya Scindia emphasized new challenges confronting the press in the age of artificial intelligence and deepfakes. He expressed that while historical challenges like censorship and limited resources were significant, the current crisis is primarily about credibility.
Scindia underscored the role of journalists in not just reporting data, but in nurturing human consciousness. Recalling family contributions to journalism with 'Jayaji Pratap' and 'Swadesh,' he proposed transforming an old printing press into a museum. The seminar, hosted by the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts, also witnessed the release of a commemorative stamp honoring Hindi journalism's legacy.
