ED Cracks Down on Bengaluru Engineering Seat Blocking Scam

The Enforcement Directorate, on Wednesday, conducted widespread searches across Bengaluru as part of a money laundering investigation concerning an alleged engineering seat blocking scam in several private colleges. Sources have confirmed the raid.
Colleges implicated in the probe include prominent institutions such as BMS College of Engineering, Akash Institute of Engineering and Technology, and New Horizon College of Engineering. The search also targeted the trustees of BMS and their associates, as well as various education consultants and agents.
The Bengaluru zonal unit heads this investigation under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), focusing on unraveling the extent of the alleged scam and its financial pathways.
