Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar introduced a domicile policy for the recruitment of government teachers, aiming to prioritize local candidates. However, the percentage reserved for state residents remains unspecified.
This policy comes in the run-up to the state assembly elections, slated for later this year. Kumar emphasized ongoing efforts since 2005 to strengthen the education system by appointing more teachers.
Starting with this year's Teachers Recruitment Exam, the policy changes will also impact future exams. Additionally, the Secondary Teachers Eligibility Test is set to precede the TRE-5 in 2026.
