The Meghalaya government has entered a significant partnership with the Abhinav Bindra Foundation by signing a memorandum of understanding to bring the Olympic Values Education Programme (OVEP) to schools across the state. This initiative was officially endorsed by the presence of Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma and Olympic gold medallist Abhinav Bindra.
During the signing event, Chief Minister Sangma highlighted how the programme dovetails with the government's youth-centric policies. He underscored that sports, beyond being an activity, instills lifelong values such as discipline and responsibility. The programme is seen as aligning with the state's mission to nurture youth into productive citizens of tomorrow.
The MoU also paves the way for a potential high-performance sports science and injury centre in Meghalaya, as presented by Abhinav Futuristics Pvt Ltd. This centre aims to elevate athletes by providing cutting-edge training and rehabilitation, marking a milestone in the state's educational and sporting strategy.
